Project Alpha

Hi folks,

I believe for those who are familiar with blogging scene in Malaysia would have sniff or at least had several previews of the videos shown on some of the top Malaysian bloggers on youtube.

This ingenious project called Project Alpha is the brainchild of Nuffnang together with the production house Kyanite , their lovely host JojoStruys and of course their main sponsor for Project Alpha, Adidas Action 3.

Their theme called Uncovering Malaysia's Top Bloggers. As I have read about Project Alpha from the blog of Nuffnang co-founder, Timothy Tiah(one of the regular blog I read), before it was launched, for once I thought it was gonna be shown on TV. So for the first week of Friday when they supposed to be showing Fourfeetnine(another regular blog I read), I booked and glued to the TV, reserved my friday night to view it on TV.

However after around 9pm, still no sight of any new TV programme called Project Alpha, I finally went online to check ...eiks...LOL, it is supposed to be shown online with those videos uploaded in youtube....I am so shy to admit this...I did not read the promotion lines carefully I guess...am just so EXCITED to see some of the bloggers whom I regularly read their blogs diligently would be interviewed and on TV(so to speak!!!)

BUT, then again I think I saw one of the promotion about Project Alpha on TV whereby JojoStruys and Timothy was explaning what it was all about! Well, this mommy must have been dreaming or what...I actually remembered I was explaining to DH about this Project Alpha thingie and bet DH knew I was really expecting to view it..on TV....haha...

Anyhow, on youtube is even BETTER! As my tv time is VERY limited, now I get to download those videos onto my Iphone and just view it on my very LIMITED time I had!! LOL..being mom...I watched those videos showing Fourfeetnine, Redmummy, NicoleKiss and KennySia on my phone while pumping milk, while lying on bed waiting my dotter goes to bed, while waiting for DH in the car or in his office...everywhere..haha...this is how crazy I am about these top bloggers in Malaysia...I really feel "so young" like a teenager again..haha..like chasing after idols and stuff..haha...

But honestly, these are what I felt after watching several episodes of Project Alpha:
1. Episode which really strikes me is Ep. 1 Kenny Sia : when he describes how he moved back to Malaysia from Australia despite having a good job there and a girlfriend and then started blogging.

2. Episodess that attracts me is this adventurous and very good-looking travel blogger, Nicolekiss showing and describing her travel adventures in all episodes(I repeatedly watching all her videos...maybe it's been my dream to travel like her while I was young and single..and bet it's all women dream to be good-looking as her too..LOL)

3. Episodes that humbles me(if there's such a word) is watching Fourfeetnine: she is simply fragile(from Ep3 where she goes to the gym), cute, pretty little girl which is really real and truthful(no pretence) .Deep down, I felt she is a strong girl inside. Given a chance (how about when she becomes a mommy haha...bearing child of Tim?) she would be as brave and mighty as the tigress protecting her cub!! ;) For sure..

These are the three bloggers which I truly find inspiring!! Of course, there are also the ever-so-red Redmummy whom I personally met her during one of the event organised by Nuffnang last year.....so yea, Project Alpha makes me get to know her more...as she is quite HUGE in Malay blogging scene...one thing to note, sometimes I find it hard to follow her very Malay style of writing in her blog, very conversational style, which is what makes her blog entertaining and attracts huge Malay followers I think,'cos she speaks their language? Something that clicks me with this Redmummy is the fact that she is a mom and is part of this parenting bloggers mommy whom I personally am inspired and look up to.

Now, I am gonna watch more of the current episodes on Beautiful Nara( the word that introduce his blog as gossip with ethic or in Malay- Gosip dengan berhemah). As well as another daredevil blogger SixthSeal. And lastly another Entertainment Blogger, Budiey.

Wanna check out the Project Alpha episodes yourself? Check it out here.

Cheers!

A Special Tribute to a Lovely Lady

Today is the birthday of my aunt, Alicia.

She is a remarkable lady to me.

B'cos of her, I researched on WAHM as it was her goal and dream many years back to be a WAHM. I used to chat with her a lot as I am staying very close to her then during my college years as well as when I first started working .

To reached her goal, she has tried many things, from MLM, home-business in cake-making, hamper delivering to fish cake business. She never stop at anything to reach her goal to achieve work life balance and spend more time with her three children(my cousins).

And right now, she's almost there or I should say quite at it now...working from home in Australia(she finally migrated there for the sake of her children's education).

She's been the pillar of strength for her families. She is also the one who kept the family connected and filled with tradition.

On my wedding she even helped me to prepare those traditional Tang yuan(see picture). I really have to thank her being being my pillar of strength too during those blurry times being a young college student and working adult. She's like a mom and friend to me during those times as I don't get to go back to my hometown dat often then as I am always working during semester break else I'll be travelling or joining camps or etc. Never been a @home kid I supposed.

Now, although I have not been able to see her(I can't display her picture here without her permission! But she is certainly a lovely and gungho lady!) or chat with her as often, but deep down I am sure she's still the forever Alive, Active and Passionate person at Down Under.

I wish her All the BEST of health and May Lady Luck Smiling at her at all times...protecting her and family...and bless them too!

Happy Birthday Aunt Alicia! May my family & I able to visit them in Australia very soon!

Cheers!

What we can do on Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

Hi folks,

Have you been seeing pink colors and pink ribbons everywhere now? Fear not, you are NOT Color Blind (lol).

It's just simply 'cos October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!! :)

So what can we do on this special pink month?

Below are some ideas I have done and thinking to do. I like to share it with you all:
  1. Color your blog pink and have pink ribbons on your blog
  2. Conduct self-checks, whether you're male or female.
  3. Go for clinical examination/mammogram.
  4. Support companies/campaign which aims to raise awareness on Breast Cancer. Some of them are:
a. gin & Jacqie -local handbag
In May, local handbag label gin & Jacqie held a bag print design competition to create breast health awareness. The contest ended in July and the winning design entitled "Love and Faith" by Zuhaili Akmal Ismail is now on sale at Isetan KLCC, Isetan The Gardens , Tangs Pavilion KL and online at www.ginjacqie.com and www.emmagem.com.
Gin & Jacqie's winning entry called Love & Faith.

All profits from the sale of the bag, priced at RM18 each, will be donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association.

b. Fabric Softener Softlan (applicable for Malaysia only)

Fabric Softener Softlan joins in the fight against breast cancer. They will set aside 10 sen from every sale of the 2L charity bottle this month and proceeds will be going to National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Breast Cancer Welfare Association and National Cancer Institute (Makna).

By the way, I love their Pearl and Almond(orange label) scent. Will stock up more during Oct to support their good cause!

c.Estée Lauder Companies' (ELC)

Estée Lauder Companies' (ELC) initiated the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in 1992 and Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate VP Estee Lauder Companies, and Alexander Penney then editor of Self magazine, developed the pink ribbon, which has become the worldwide symbol of breast health.

There are many activities lined up for the Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Malaysia this year. Please check out the calendar at:

http://www.esteelaudermalaysia.com/bca09/calendar.html

The illuminated KL Tower is Estee Lauder Companies' bid in sending out a strong message on breast cancer awareness.

d. Ryl Designs

(as seen on Shopaholics Den post on Breast Cancer Awareness Month)

Ryl Designs have created a set of Pink Ribbon Collection in their effort of doing their part for the pink ribbon campaign. 50% of all proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association.

Here are some sneak peeks into the designs that they have in the collection:

f. AliceWonders.com

AliceWonders.com will be selling a limited collection of handbags, IT's PINKY! exclusively for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. 10% of the total sales will be donated to NCSM. Check their website to see and grab the marvelous bags!

And join their Got Boobies campaign here to spread awareness on Breast Cancer!

5. Decide and set your mind to Breastfeed your offspring(if you are a mom-to-be or an aspiring mom), support BF( if you are anyone else, be it a dad, a mother-in-law,etc) as studies shows...BREASTFEEDING lower Breast Cancer Risk!

Cheers!

My first experience BF a toddler

Dear folks,

Remember my posting here about trying to BF as long as Shone wants it probably till he is 2 years old.

Now, this is my first time BF-ing a toddler as KY weaned at 12 months old.

Now I must say it is yet another new experience for me being a BF mom.

There are a lot of mommies out there who BF beyond 1 year old and it's an inspiration to me really!

Now,coming to BF beyond 1 year old experience,I have the following items to note(don't we love point form to speed up reading and remembering :) )
  • I am surprised to find Shone's reaction when I BF him at night. As we are still co-sleeping, he would search and cry for nen-nen(a.k.a milk) with his eyes close and then he would either smile or keep his eyes shut while he starts filling up his midnite hunger strike or comfort strike
  • After BF session, this toddler boy can go showing "good"sign, then clap his hand and say hurray!! (don't that encourages and marvels you further to continue BF :P..well I doubt he does that after she drank his milk using milk bottle- oh yes, I currently mixed BF as my supply is insufficient to fulfill his need as I am not pumping as often as I should)
  • He recovers within 2-3 days from diarrhea and vomit recently without needing to take any antibiotics(I THank God for this!)
And I shall update more about my experience about BF a toddler as I continue on this superb journey! God willings, Shone persevere and mommy shall continue to enjoy this bonding and special with my boy who shall soon be a grown up boy like his jiejie KY ;) and I bet I will miss these moments in future...holding my little baby close to me....oh... :D

Cheers!
