MomBloggersPlanet Cutest Baby with TOYS Contest

What is your children favourite toys?

For Shone (DOB: 20 June 2009) his favourite toy would be ball...I think all boys loves toys like cars and balls isn't it :)

As for KY(DOB: 25 July 2006), her current favourite toy(yes she changes her favourite toy pretty fast!) is a life-like size of soft toys(look at the picture above, they are same size as her as if her buddy!!):

When we were a first-time parent, my husband and I were more crazy about getting toys for KY than she is. However, we found out that most of the time, KY is only interested to play with the price tag card or the toy boxes rather than the toys itself!

Nevertheless we find that the usage of TOYS in early childhood learning plays a part in nurturing their creativity, motor skills and it is what is essential to kids besides, eating, sleeping and poo-ing :P. Playing is very important to a child. And toys plays a big part of it.

Here in the picture(above), KY is stacking the cube to build as if a castle like home for the bee? haha..or was it a beehive after reading her yet another toy, "Right At Home" clothbook which has an activity whereby they can place each animals(bee, horse, fish etc) into their own(right) home! Very nice toy indeed which I personally loved! I often asked KY to put all animals back home to go to bed together with her as part of her bedtime routine or when she refused to sleep. :P Another trick of mine!

However, I feel that toys does not restrict to those pricey and of course specially-designed branded ones...toys which can be found around the house(and safe one of course) can be used to nurture their creativity as well.

Just like these two pictures, the toy that KY is playing and having so much fun is nothing but clothes peg, but she and her cousin, Zoey(DOB:27 Sep 2007) can spend so much time assembling and wearing them, playing pretend games as if they are the princesses for the day! How fun is that!

And toys to us, is life-saver in a sense, especially during travelling. We cannot do without toys in the car, like what Shone is having right now(picture on the left) is a simple plastic hammer toy(which cost only RM2 at Tesco), this toy can keep him entertained while we drive back to my in-law's place or when we went home to visit my parents.

Oh yes, before I finished my story about toys...like to share with you all some good news!

Touching Conversation with my two year plus KY

Why 2 year plus when she has reached her 3 yr old milestone recently? Well because this touching conversation happened before her birthday :) Just that mommy has not shared it publicly in her blog.

Ever since my second child, Shone arrives, it has been rather hectic schedule for me with two kids. There are many things that I used to do with KY even while I was heavily pregnant and tires easily. I never failed to read bedtime story with her every night.

However now my nighttime routine has changed to be BF Shone at night till BOTH of us sleep or at least Shone is asleep while I am closed to sleeping mode while waiting for KY to sleep as well...(Shone sleeps earlier than KY).

Most of the time I am SO TIRED that I am KNOCKED OUT almost immediately after BF Shone(well being a full-time mom) every evening that I am so ashamed and guilty that I seems to have neglected precious time with KY.

So one night while I was breastfeeding Shone on the bed with KY lying beside me(doing nothing), I said to KY, " Sorry ya mommy have not been reading bedtime story to you lately...." tears falling inside ..sad..

KY said cheerfully, " KY read myself mommy, KY reads everyday!"

Wow...I was stunned, touched at her spontaneous reply. Yes indeed most of the nights she would take out her books and read while I BF Shone. Sometimes she would asked me to read to her..but to my dismay I often told her mommy is too tired...can read it tomorrow...So bad of me...really...I FEEL SO BAD even while I am typing this now...

So, I have to find some ways, either changing SHone bedtime routine, or to boost up my energy level through better nutrition, rest and daily habits...I would not want to miss spending precious time with my kids (BOTH of them)...and witness & progress with both their development stage!

Wish me ALL the BEST!

Cheers!

Love running under the drizzling rain

Recent downpour makes me reminisce the good old time of running under light drizzle of rain with my buddy, Charl at Down Under.

We were doing our regular jog at the neighbourhood of our friends' place at Shepparton, Australia when suddenly it rains...we were only half way across the few streets...but laughing like little girls, we look at each other and nod yep..we gonna keep running...under the rain...

What a lovely feeling!! And each time when there's such nice cool breeze after the rain makes me recall this wonderful moment!

And now my dear buddy, Charl would be having her own baby soon(in Oct 2009)..can't help to think..HOW TIME FLIES....

Oh..memories...yes, we gonna create lovely memories for our kids and DH too, and most important of all for ourselves!

Carpe Diem! Live life to the fullest!

Do you have any(or many) lovely memories in your mind now? Wanna share?

Cheers!

Sunway Lagoon trip turned out to be Sunway Pyramid trip

Last Sunday after packing two bags of stuff for a planned trip to Sunway Lagoon...with our kids(we wanted to bring them to both the Water and Amusement Park). To our dismay their amusement park had power failure..so not wanting to go for the Water Park alone..we decided to postpone out trip.

We went to Sunway Pyramid instead in my bid to find Shone a comfortable walking shoes...his feet was rather "fleshy" that no baby shoes(normally biggest size is 5 for baby) seems to fit his feet. Those meant for toddler (size 6 and above) seems rather "hard" for his tender "just-walking" feet.

Alas, we did not manage to find any shoes suitable for Shone, but KY is enjoying her ride at Sunway Lagoon(see pic). One ride is RM3, DH said is even more money-making than the car park!! KY had three ride that day I think..

Watch out for my post on our water adventure that evening at our apartment pool as KY wanted to play with water no matter what..so we ended up swimming not at Sunway Lagoon but at our apartment's pool ;)

Cheers!

JOHNSON'S(R) Baby : Touch – Infant Massage Workshop Series

Dear All,

I receive this notice from Johnson's Baby newsletter, perhaps anyone of you interested to join the workshop to learn about baby massage?

I tried massaging on KY but she was just too fussy to wait to be clothed each time after shower when she was a baby. As for Shone, honestly I have yet to try massaging him. However, I have a feeling that he likes it as DH often rub his back and he just lay still! ;)

So check it out folks if especially for mothers-to-be..I am sure you've have heard of the positive effects of baby massaging for colic prevention and bonding!

Cheers!

If you are unable to see the message below, click here to view.

Daily infant massage can

  • increase baby's bone mass by 15%;
  • increase his body weight by 47%;
  • strengthen his body's resistance, and help to build his self-confidence too.

Thanks to Malaysian parents' support and enthusiasm, the Johnson's baby TOUCH Infant Massage Workshop Series is back by demand this year.

The workshop series aims to reach out to parents and babies nationwide covering not only information and techniques on infant massage, but also tips and guidance on how to bathe and breastfeed babies, especially for first time parents.

Each workshop will consist of a seminar session led by a consultant paediatrician, and a step-by-step demonstration by qualified trainers on how to bathe and massage your baby.

To participate, register for the 'Touch' Infant Massage workshop and pay a RM20 fee per couple, in return for a Johnson's Baby Oil starter pack worth the same, plus a set of CD and poster on infant massage.
